Emilio Pucci

Emilio Pucci was a Florentine Italian fashion designer and politician. Pucci was born in 1914 of one of Florence’s oldest noble families, and would live and work in the Pucci Palace in Florence for much of his life. He was a sportsman, who swam, skied, fenced, played tennis and raced cars. At the age of 17 he travelled to Lake Placid as part of theItalian team at the 1932 Winter Olympics, but did not compete.He became a designer when a fashion photographer for Vogue noticed his original ski outfit and asked him to design women's ski clothes.

In 1949, Pucci opened a boutique in Capri, selling the range of his interesting items but especially "Capri Pants" which took the world by storm. In 1951, the first fashion show took place in Florence.
During the 50's, Pucci gained a reputation as a designer of brilliantly patterned sporting wear and relaxed daywear. He contributed to the success of post-war Italian fashion design. He used silk jersey for his dresses which were light weight, wrinkle free and supremely comfortable.

Fashion designer Emilio Pucci is best known for his tight shantung “Pucci pants” and vividly printed silk dresses and blouses. Emilio Pucci naturally embodied the post war, jet set glamour which captivated a new group of modern, active women.He was crowned "The Prince of Prints" by the international fashion press, who were smitten by his exuberantly colored prints and simple, effortless designs, so radical for that time. Their feminine and free flowing body conscious shapes translated seamlessly into weightless silk jersey dresses, resort-style sportswear and glorious evening gowns. his clothes and accessories are sold through Emilio Pucci and Rossignol boutiques worldwide and in high-end department stores, mostly feature the designer’s original brightly coloured, often swirly, prints or new designs in his original distinct style. The fashion house produces clothes and accessories for women, and in small range of men’s accessories. I think pucci designed can relate to hippies fashion or clothing, through the use of the bright colours and geomaetrix prints

He died in 1992 at the age of 78. The clothes which Emilio Pucci designed over the years are valued immensely and vintage gowns are treasured. Many exhibitions are held, which was very well attended. His son, the Alessandro Pucci, took over the running of the family business and estates. However, Alessandro was killed in a car accident.In the 1990's Emilio Pucci's daughter Laudomia Pucci took the rein of the family business.

John Galliano

John Galliano is one of the most influential fashion designer.Born in Gibraltar, he grew up in London.He has created the most spectacular fashion shows. Galliano enrolled at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1981. While in school, he worked as a dresser for Britain's National Theatre, the eminent company in London, ensuring that the company’s thespians looked perfect.In 1984 his graduation collection at St. Martins was 8 garments called "Les Incroyables" a fantastic, impeccably produced series of garments based on French Revolutionary garments of the 1790's.

During 1983 at the Victoria and Albert Museum costume archives, they allowed John to spend time sketching and examining dresses by Vionnet and other classic designers and he kept this research secret. In 1995, John Galliano presented his "Back to the 40's" Collection. He also dressed Diana, Princess of Wales in a dark blue lace-edged evening gown.John Galliano was awarded by Queen Elizabeth of England, for his services to fashion.


 In June 2010 the designer was given France's highest award, the Legion of Honour. Galliano was appointed chief designer at Givenchy, becoming the first British designer to head a French couture house.Galliano officially launched his own label in 1984, producing historically influenced designs laced with a contemporary edge. Part romantic, part maverick, Galliano was always a couturier at heart and delicate bias-cut gowns and superbly tailored suits fast became his trademark.In 1996, he moved to Christian Dior, unveiling his first couture collection for them.

Galliano hit the headlines for all of the wrong reasons. The British tabloid The Sun posted a video of Galliano making anti-Semitic remarks to Italian tourists in a Paris bar. His controversial behavior was a hot topic, and discussed far beyond the fashion world. Galliano was arrested for an alleged assault and shortly afterwards a video appeared online, As a result, Dior dismissed him from his role as creative director.


Galliano created some of the industry's most famous collections, including the Blanche Dubois. He is known for his own dramatic final-bow-costumes, finishing his shows wearing fantastical get-ups inspired by the likes of Napoleon Bonaparte and U.S. Astronauts.His interpretation is unique, with a highly defined sense of the theatrical,He has trained himself in the craft of fashion, not only the art. His garments have a tremendous sense of romance and charm.He also depends on a team of superbly artistic designers for his accessories, Stephen Jones for hats, Manolo Blahnik for shoes, Odile Gilber for hair styles and Stephenie Marais for make up,They all seem to adore him and his clothes. John also gives chances to young designers to work with him.

Hippy

The hippie subculture developed as a youth movement that began in the  early 1960s and spread around the world. A hippie doesn’t conform to society’s standards and advocates a liberal attitude and lifestyle. Many people think hippies are just dirty, drug addicted, bell bottom wearing kids from the sixties when in fact they are the original movers and shakers who inspired and changed the world in an amazing decade. They were some of the most intelligent, creative, peaceful, free spirited, happy, liberated and giving people ever to exist Hippies wear used clothes, tie-dyed tops, dashikis, and peasant blouses are popular choices among hippies. The whole point of hippie fashion was to stop buying what big corporations were selling in favour of usedclothing purchased locally. Many hippies are into sewing and other handcrafts. To be a hippie you must believe in peace as the way to resolve differences among peoples, ideologies and religions. The way to peace is through love and tolerance. Loving means accepting others as they are, giving them freedom to express themselves and not judging them based on appearances. This is the core of the hippie philosophy.
The fashion rule in the '60s was that there were no rules. Anything went as long as it wasn't based on the conservative styles of the early '60s. The only thing they were influence was the miniskirt. This is because many of the hippie fashions were based on traditional designs from India, Nepal, Central America, and Baliand Morocco.Accessories hippies wear are love beads, bandannas, leather vests, jackets with frills, and granny glasses. Jewellery, especially if made of silver from Mexico, India or Morocco was essential. Bangles, rings, earrings, nose rings, and ankle bracelets were worn, especially for parties or concerts. Necklaces were wear with peace symbols, yin-yang symbols. In the west, the hippies also indulged in body painting, body piercing and tattoo body art. Not much of this was ever appreciated by the older generation. During the hippie movement, men and women grew their hair long and avoided fussy styling and hair products as braiding hair was popular, although, contrary to popular belief, they did still shampoo. Usually hair was parted in the middle and bang-less. The hippies fashion was embraced by the youth and even senior across continent in the 1960s,Trends keep changing with time, but women who found their own individuality and style in the 1960s have never let it go and passed much of their own hippie influence on to their daughters.
